Behr’s colour trend palette for 2017 bases itself on the idea of connections, says Nancy Bollefer, Canadian marketing manager for the paint company.
“There’s a desire for personal connections from what you have in your house. Our homes are becoming our personal gallery space where we can show our prized art collection, or any kind of collection, for that matter,” she says. “That curated home is behind connection and story telling.”
Behr’s new 20-colour collection is grouped into three lifestyle themes — composed, comfortable and confident. The colours can be mixed and matched within and across themes.
Composed is a grouping with depth and intensity for those who prefer greater colour presence in their space. The Composed palette holds a mix of deep, luxurious earth and jewel-toned colours.
“The Comfortable palette — these are soft, tranquil, versatile hues that can be used with any decor style in any room. These Comfortable colours are muted pastels evolving away from sweet and bright colours. They feel feminine and sophisticated, especially when paired with light natural tones,” Bollefer says.
Confident colours, meanwhile, are crafted for vivaciousness and impact. They are saturated and bright, and demand attention.
There is also a softness to the overall collection.
“Grey has an influence over most of the trend colours this year, ” Bollefer says.
Behr.com has a lot of good tools for consumers for visualizing projects and playing with the colour palettes.
